Richard Parizek Research Interests:

» Environmental problems
» Glacial and karst hydrogeology
» Groundwater problems in relation to mining, waste management and other land uses

» Hydrogeology of karst, fractured-rock dominated and glaciated terranes; geological controls on the porosity and permeability distribution within these terranes, factors controlling groundwater occurrence and movement, exploration and development of water and the sustained-yield analysis of wells, well fields and aquifer systems.

» Hydrogeology of coal bearing strata, impact of surface and deep coal mines on the environmental setting, application of hydrogeological and geochemical principles to abatement of pollution from mine drainage, pre-mine planning, and mine restoration.

» Relationship between land use and groundwater pollution resulting from sanitary landfills, highways, nuclear waste disposal, land treatment of municipal waste water and sludges, and other industrial wastes. Geology applied to land planning.
